Allogan Slagle Memorial Scholarships

Note: This scholarship is for students from non-recognized tribes only.

The Association on American Indian Affairs offers Allogan Slagle Memorial Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 to students who are enrolled citizens of tribes that are not recognized by the federal government.

Disbursement in the amount of $750 is made directly to the college fall and spring semesters pending satisfactory progress. Spring disbursement requires a copy of the fall semester's satisfactory grades and a full time spring semester class schedule.

This scholarship does not automatically renew. Students are eligible to apply on a yearly basis.

Due to tribal status the 1/4 blood quantum requirement can be waived for this scholarship only. A CIB is requested if available. If a CIB is not available, a copy of your parent and grandparent's enrollment cards are acceptable, or a letter from you tribal chairman noting a history of family enrollment/participation and copy of family tree are acceptable. If these documents are not available, please call our Rockville office to discuss your situation.

All requested documents must be included. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

 


December 2011 Graduates


AAIA congratulates Kara Four Bear, Cheyenne River Sioux (top), and Lucas Tyree, Monacan (bottom) on their recent graduation!

Kara, a recipient of the AAIA Emilie Hesemeyer Scholarship, attended United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, ND and graduated with her degree in Education.

Lucas was a recipient of the AAIA Allogan Slage Scholarship and attended the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Lucas took 21 credits his last semester and received an A- and 6 A's! He received his degree in Agro-ecology and Environmental Quality.

We wish them the best in their future endeavors!
