Summer Camp Grant Proposal Information

During 2010 AAIA's summer camp program provided funding to 548 campers age 9-19 in 7 states across the US.

We are impressed with the ways in which tribes and organizations use innovative activities which intertwine the old with the new, to strengthen traditional cultural knowledge and teach skills to live healthy, productive lives in modern times.

We look forward to the continuation of funding Native run camps which provide their youth these opportunities.

Please note that AAIA's summer camp program is dependent upon the generosity of our donors. Funding may vary from year to year, therefore award of a grant is not guaranteed.

Summer camps may apply on a yearly basis.

  • AAIA generally does not have the ability to provide funding of entire camps but we like to fund critical portions (transportation, honorariums, supplies), not extras such as t-shirts, backpacks or water parks. Please be specific in your request. In general most grants awarded are for amounts between $1,000-$3,000 depending on the number of proposals received.

  • AAIA is held accountable to the people that provide funding to our summer camp program, therefore a short (1-2) page follow up summary report and photos must be provided. Please provide photos and report on a disc or USB drive no later than September 30. Please note that failure to provide follow up documentation may disqualify you from receiving further funding. We ask that the applying organization sign the Acknowledgement of Obligation Form as their understanding of this responsibility prior to being awarded.

  • We realize that the safety of our children is of the utmost importance. We ask for a follow up report and photos so we may promote the program and continue funding camps for Native youth in the future. We ask that your have parents either sign our Release Form or that you incorporate wording into your own organizational release forms indicating that we may use such information and photos. First name or sudo-name, photo, likeness, age, tribal affiliation, and other relevant information (writings, drawings, videos, remarks, recollections, quotes, paraphrases, personal experiences) may used as deemed appropriate in, but not limited to AAIA reports, newsletters, website, appeal letters, display boards, brochures, social media, annual reports and the like. These publications may be distributed to the public, our members and potential members free of charge. AAIA agrees that individuals will not be identified by name unless further approval is obtained from the child's parent or legal guardian.
