Trista Vaughn is a citizen of the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma and a descendant of the Hualapai and Chickasaw Nations, and serves as the Association’s Communications Associate. With a passion for empowering Native Nations and amplifying their voices, Trista is building a career at the intersection of storytelling, digital engagement, and cultural advocacy. Previously, Trista served as the Digital Engagement Manager for the AISES (Advancing Indigenous People in STEM), developing campaigns and multimedia strategies to inspire and connect Indigenous students and professionals in STEM. Additionally, she serves as the Community Engagement and Cultural Coordinator and journalist for Crosswinds News and Talking Circle, a Native-owned media platform that amplifies Indigenous stories, perspectives, and sovereignty. Trista earned a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies with an emphasis in Public Relations, and a Master of Arts in Communication from Northeastern State University. She is also a proud member of the Indigenous Journalists Association and a former Miss Keetoowah 2012–2013. Beyond her professional achievements, Trista is dedicated to raising her daughter while continuing to serve as an advocate for Indigenous representation, cultural preservation, and community growth.
