Indian Arts Research Center (IARC) - School for Advanced Research (SAR)
Position: Paid Internship

Salary/Stipend: $22,500 + free housing and utilities
Application Deadline: March 1, 2023  
Summary of Position:
The Indian Arts Research Center (IARC) at the School for Advanced Research (SAR) in Santa Fe, New Mexico offers two nine-month paid internships to individuals who are recent college graduates, current graduate students, or junior museum professionals interested in working with Native American collections and furthering their professional museum experience. Internships include a monthly salary, housing, book allowance, the cost of one professional conference, and reimbursable travel to and from SAR.  The IARC works with interns to realize professional goals relating to Indigenous cultural preservation and provides invaluable experience and broad-based training in the field of museology. One internship is open to an Indigenous individual from the U.S. or Canada, and one internship is open to any U.S. or Canadian citizen meeting the application requirements.

University of New Mexico School of Public Administration
Position: Assistant or Associate Professor in Health Administration

Summary of Position:
The School of Public Administration at the University of New Mexico invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor to begin in August 2023. This is a full-time, tenured/tenure-track position with specialization in health administration. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (including PhD, DrPH, DHA and equivalent terminal degrees) in Health Administration, Health Services Research, Health Policy, Health Systems Management, Health Informatics, or another relevant field by the date of appointment of August 1, 2023. Position: SMSC Native American Fellow, Arts of the Americas Department

Summary of Position: 
The Minneapolis Institute of Art welcomes applications for the 2022 - 2023 Native American Fellowship co-hosted by Mia’s Curatorial Division and Mia’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Division. The fellow will gain valuable professional experience working with Native American art curation at a large art museum. The Native American Fellowship provides an opportunity for Native Americans to work with the Chair of Global Contemporary Art, and other museum professionals to enhance skills and experience through research, care, curation, partnerships, and interpretation of Native American art, as well as learn about all aspects of museum work by interacting with staff from Advancement, Audience, Curatorial, Registration, and Facilities. Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC)
Position: Hospital Administrator

Summary of Position: 
Located in Anchorage, Alaska, the Hospital Administrator is responsible for executive leadership in setting Alaska Native Medical Center’s strategic plan and annual operating plan, as well as the general supervision, management, and control of the day-to-day operations. The Administrator will communicate updates and advise the President regularly regarding operational and financial matters. They will develop and maintain effective relationships with strategic healthcare business partners, while building positive, collaborative relationships with members of the Alaska Tribal Health System and stakeholders.

Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)
Position: Forest Advocate

Summary of Position: 
NRDC is seeking a Forest Protection Advocate to work with coalitions, the media, affected communities, and decision-makers to safeguard the biological, climate, and traditional Indigenous values of North American forests. The advocate’s time will be split evenly between two forest conservation campaigns, one to save mature stands and trees in U.S. federal forests, and the other to combat bioenergy threats to hardwood bottomlands in the Southeast U.S. and the boreal forests in Canada.

The University of Kansas
Position: Repatriation Program Manager

Salary: $50,000-$80,000
Summary of Position:
The University of Kansas Office of the Chancellor invites applications for a Repatriation Program Manager (RPM). The RPM coordinates federal Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act compliance (NAGPRA), consultations, repatriations, and other activities by managing inventory and curation of Native American and Indigenous artifacts and remains across the university. This position will advance KU’s Repatriation Program and serve as a liaison between the university, tribal nations, the National NAGPRA program, and other federal, state and/or international agencies.

Great Basin Institute
Position: California Condor Monitoring Technician
Summary of Position:
The Northern California Condor Restoration Program (NCCRP) is a collaborative, multiagency, wildlife conservation partnership between The Yurok Tribe and Redwood National and State Parks (RNSP; National Park Service). NCCRP is committed to restoring California condors (Gymnogyps californianus) to northern California and the Pacific Northwest. The Great Basin Institute (GBI), in cooperation with NCCRP, is recruiting up to two (2) AmeriCorps technicians to conduct condor population monitoring and management activities in northern California and the broader region.

University of Nevada Las Vegas
Position: Director of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and UNLV Tribal Education Initiative, Harrah College of Hospitality 
Summary of Position:
The Director of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and UNLV Tribal Education Initiative will be responsible for the following: 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Indian tribes and communities, and tribal organizations across North America, including but not limited to, tribal governments, high schools with significant tribal enrollments, tribal colleges, and groups that support tribal enterprises.
  • Work with tribal governments and tribal gaming enterprises to identify scholarships for Native American students to study hospitality and gaming.
  • Work with tribal gaming enterprises to identify and secure internships and other training opportunities for Native students to gain real work experiences in tribal gaming and hospitality
  • Institute partnership agreements with high schools, tribal colleges, tribal gaming enterprises, and others for recruiting, educating and matriculating Native students to the UNLV Harrah College of Hospitality.
  • Teach others in the College of Hospitality and those working for Tribal Enterprises about Native American cultures, traditions and governmental practices so all events and interactions with Native American populations are culturally and politically correct.
  • Create and implement strategies for establishing the UNLV Harrah College of Hospitality to become a national leader in Tribal Hospitality and Gaming Education.

Great Basin Institute
Position: Protecting Wild Caves in White Pine County Project – Tribal Liaison

Open & Close Dates: Open 4/13/22; Closed when filled 
Summary of Position: 
In cooperation with the National Park Service’s Great Basin National Park (GRBA) and the US Forest Service’s Ely Ranger District, we are recruiting to hire a Tribal Liaison in support of the Protecting Wild Caves in White Pine County project. Numerous caves exist in White Pine County, and GRBA and the USFS have partnered with GBI to have them inventoried for biological, geological, archaeological, paleontological, and hydrological features. In addition, high quality cave maps and photographs will be made for each cave.
The multi-disciplinary field crew samples for and collect data on key cave features and writes authoritative reports on their findings. Information from this project is used to track the status of each cave, provide data-driven information that informs park and forest management decisions, identify areas of management concern, and evaluate effectiveness of and inform environmental policies that protect park and forest resources.
The Tribal Liaison will act as a point of contact between tribal members as the National Park Service/U.S. Forest Service on matters related to the Protecting Wild Caves in White Pine County project.

County of San Diego – Office on Sustainability and Environmental Justice
Position: Tribal Community Liaison
Salary:  $110,000 to $124,000 Annually

Summary of Position:
The County of San Diego (County) is seeking a Tribal Community Liaison (Actual Job Class: Group Program Manager)  to provide a mindful approach to fostering cross-governmental partnerships. The San Diego region is built on Kumeyaay and Luiseño land, with the unincorporated area of San Diego County being home to 19 Native American reservations represented by 18 Native American Tribal Governments (Tribal Governments).
This position will serve as the main point of contact for all County matters with the region’s Tribal Governments and County Executives to partner on areas related to health and well-being, emergency preparedness, quality of life and sustainability. The successful candidate will be one who has a proven track record of establishing and maintaining relationships with Tribal Governments and Executives to assist with navigating services and departments to make connections to partner on issues to help ensure delivery of efficient services and improved quality of life.

Position: Indigenous Justice Policy Advocate
Summary of Position:
The American Civil Liberties Union of New Mexico (ACLU-NM) is seeking an Indigenous Justice (IJ) Policy Advocate to support the organization’s efforts to advance civil and human rights for Indigenous people across the state. Collaborating closely with tribal leaders and communities, this person will work across ACLU-NM departments to combine legislative lobbying, policy advocacy, coalition building, community outreach, and communications approaches in an integrated advocacy model. Guided by Indigenous values, the IJ Policy Advocate is committed to advancing issues such as educational equity, smart criminal justice reform, voting rights, and environmental justice. They must have a proven ability to take initiative, quickly learn new information and skills, think strategically, communicate clearly and persuasively, and work in partnership with diverse groups.
The IJ Policy Advocate will help analyze current and prospective policies that impact Indigenous people; explore intersections of racial justice and police violence in Indigenous communities; build and maintain trusted and meaningful relationships with community members including leaders and stakeholders; and work to expand community engagement in collaboration with other impacted communities and groups. Importantly, the Policy Advocate will lobby policy makers, work to center impacted community members in the legislative process, and build relationships with partners and community in order to further our policy goals.

Position: Communications Manager or Senior Communications Manager

Summary of Position:
Western Resource Advocates (WRA) is seeking a strategic relationship builder to join our team as a Communications or Senior Communications Manager. The Communications Manager/Senior Communications Manager will support communications efforts and strategy across the organization and its programs. The Communications Manager/Senior Communications Manager will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications and will be an integral part of the Marketing and Communications Team that works to uphold the organizational brand while increasing WRA’s ability influence decision makers, donors, partners, reporters, and others to accomplish the organization’s mission and objectives. Western Resource Advocates
Position: Indigenous Communities Water and Land Intern (Paid)

Summary of Position:
Western Resource Advocates (WRA) is seeking a bright individual with an interest in exploring water and land management within Indigenous communities to join our team Spring 2022 as an Indigenous Communities Water and Land Intern. This is a role for individuals who wish to gain experience in the conservation field, by supporting water and land policy research efforts. This Internship is a step toward creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive water and land management workforce that represents all people. This position has the option to work remotely in the states within WRA’s region, from one of WRA’s six offices, or in a hybrid of the two. This is a part-time internship with an expectation to work 15-20 hours a week over the course of the internship.

Navajo Nation Washington Office
Position: Government and Legislative Affairs Associate, Washington, DC
Summary of Position:
The Navajo Nation Washington Office (NNWO) is seeking a Government and Legislative Affairs Associate (G&L) to focus specifically on infrastructure on the Navajo Nation.  The NNWO serves as the advocacy arm of the Navajo Nation.  Reporting directly to the Office of the President and Vice President located in the capitol of the Navajo Nation in Window Rock, AZ, the NNWO interfaces with Congress, federal agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to address legislation, policies, and issues pertaining to funding of treatied and other initiatives pursuant to the government-to-government relationship between the US and federally recognized tribes.  The G & L conducts reviews, analysis, and research on proposed and pending legislation and policy initiatives to ensure that they do not adversely affect the Navajo Nation; drafts budgetary and appropriations requests, legislative bills, policy proposals and position papers; prepares and provides detailed reports on activities of Congress to the Nation; advocates and communicates extensively with congressional representatives and federal agencies on the issues and positions of the Navajo Nation. Advises Navajo Nation government officials and various committees of the Navajo Nation Council on legislative and policy questions; may provide expert testimony on Congressional Acts and legislative proposals and consultations that may impact the Navajo Nation; prepares testimony and oral remarks to be presented at hearings and consultations,  provides guidance and assistance in the formulation of the Nation’s agenda; assists in securing federal funding for the Nation’s needs and ensures that ongoing projects continue to receive funding among other duties.
